Nosework Classes

Fusion Pet Retreat’s training center has a wide range of class offerings to fit many dogs’ needs. Each class is lead by an experienced instructor, dedicated to personal growth and continuing education in the field. We focus on a positive and progressive approach to dog training and behavior.

All classes are hosted in the comfort of a climate-controlled 2,000 sq. ft. indoor facility (some classes may meet offsite for more training opportunities upon occasion).

Upcoming Nosework Classes

The Nose Knows: Level 1 Nosework

Length: 6 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $160

Nosework is an engaging sport inspired by working detection dogs that helps build confidence and focus in dogs. In this class, dogs will start by hunting for food in boxes, which helps develop their drive for searching. As they navigate this activity, they will also learn to problem-solve. Nosework is suitable for all dogs, whether they are young, old, reactive, or shy. While dogs will be crated during class when not working, the environment is accommodating for reactive dogs. However, please note that there will be no instruction on managing reactivity. Owners must have control over any reactive dogs and be able to manage them effectively during the class.

**Prerequisites:** Dogs should have completed a Basic Manners class or an equivalent program.

Classes:

Wednesdays @ 8:15am or 9:30am

Saturdays at 3:45pm or 5pm

The Show Nose On: Nosework Level 2

Length: 6 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $160

This is the second level in the Nosework progression. At this stage, dogs will begin searching for specific odors. Inspired by professional detection dogs, Nosework is a fun sport that promotes confidence and focus in dogs. As they engage in these activities, they will also learn valuable problem-solving skills. Nosework is suitable for all dogs, including those that are old, young, reactive, or shy. During class, dogs will be crated when they are not actively working, making this class accommodating for reactive dogs. However, please note that there will be no instruction on managing reactivity. Owners must maintain control of their reactive dogs and be capable of managing them effectively throughout the class.

**Prerequisites:** Dogs should have completed Intro to Nosework or have equivalent training. Equivalent training means that dogs have been introduced to one or two odors but are not yet proficient with all of them.

Continuing On: Nosework Level 3

Length: 6 – 1 hour lessons
Cost: $160

This level builds on all the skills learned in previous classes. By this stage, dogs should be proficient in identifying odors.

**Prerequisites:** Dogs must have completed both Level 1 and Level 2 Nosework at Fusion or possess equivalent training. Equivalent training includes experience with all three odors.

Classes:

Wednesdays @ 10:45am

I have been training & working with dogs since the 80’s. I started teaching and enjoyed helping others learn how to connect with their dogs. I moved and
started my dog training business at home, which I ran for 15 years. I have trained

I started NW 4yrs ago and love it. We showed in NACSW, CPE & AKC. Our Newest adventure is shed hunting.
